Why Naked & Unashamed?

As Lutheran theologians committed to an incarnational theology, we are not ashamed of our bodies and their desires. We stand before the ELCA unashamed of our sexuality, our relationality, our queerness, and our genders, because we walk in the promise that God sees our bodies and calls them good. We stand before our church unashamed and unafraid as it continues to oppress us, because we know we are not alone. Join us in the fight for reformation.

This site is dedicated to revealing the constant sexual and gender oppression experienced in the ELCA every day. We are building a movement to challenge the theology and expected conduct described in Vision & ExpectationsDefinitions and Guidelines for Discipline, and Human Sexuality: Gift and Trust, among other ELCA documents. Through the collection of stories and experience we hope to demonstrate that the rhetoric in our policies and statements has lived implications. These stories are completely anonymous, and though unique to each person’s experience, also are sadly too familiar.
